Here's a little song I wrote for RMMGA. I was watching telly and the first two lines just popped into my head, so I went through to Mac we have in the house and worked out a complete song. The tune was just written in my head - it's a pastiche thing anyway - and once the words were done, I sat down with the Lowden O-10 and worked out an arrangement, then made a minidisk recording, usual simple way, single stereo mike and nothing except the Lowden and me.
It's the work of about 90 minutes and if anyone feels like extending it, changing it or using a different tune please do so! I will probably have forgotten the tune and the fingerpicking by tomorrow (I am constantly forgetting arrangements) and it's not really my style, just a bit of fun.
R, M, M-G-A
Boys'n'girls come out to play
Pickin' on an open string (let it ring!)
Doin' it without delay (or echo!)
R, M, M-G-A
Boys'n'girls got tracks to lay
Hammerin' the rails down
Wearin' all their nails down
Plucking on the bass below
Any time of night or day!
R, M, M-G-A
Boys'n'girls come out to play
Pickin' on an old guitar (you're a star!)
Even if you don't get pay (or an audience!)
R, M, M-G-A
Everyone can have their say
Lurkin' in the byways
Of the superhighway
Tappin' on the QWERTY keys
Any time of night or day!
Forget that phaser
Cut the chorus
We're made of WOOD so don't ignore us!
Unplug the A-C cord
Throw away the jack
Hold down a C-chord
And get the feeling back
In the fingers which go dead because your dreadnought's much too
fat
To ergonomically hold like that...
R, M, M-G-A
You can be ten thousand miles away
From Alaska to Australia
We can mail yer
Two hundred times a day! (so be selective!)
R, M, M-G-A
Boys'n'girls come out to play
Barring all our F-chords
Barring all our F-words
Baring our souls and tapping our toes
Any time of night or day!
(repeat verse 1)
These words they were written
While I was just sittin'
You can use my tune
Our choose your own
So go and hear my
MPEG play
A little song for R, M, M-G-A!
